Welcome to our new HIDA newsletter! With this update, we would like to inform you regularly about news, upcoming events, exciting job offers and interesting announcements in the field of information and data science. What news is there this time? Don't miss: The countdown for the HIDA Trainee Network is running! Doctoral researchers and post-docs from the Helmholtz Association can apply until 30 June. And make a note of it now: The Virtual Machine Learning Summer School starts on 21 September with a free introductory course in techniques and concepts of supervised machine learning. Also, save the date: On September 23, HIDA is organizing the Helmholtz Data Science Virtual Career Day - for all data-driven minds with ambitions. To spot fires and predict droughts, satellites need to communicate efficiently with Earth – and data science can help. Olga Kondrateva, doctoral researcher at the Helmholtz Einstein International Berlin School in Data Science (HEIBRiDS), is programming the satellites to pick and choose what data is worth transmitting.
